I looked however I did not find any recent info on the subject. Anyway due to circumstances beyond my control I am now in the market for a new one

. I decided to ask you all as many of you probably have one and have an opinion on them. I am looking strictly for a gas one.

I have a John Deere model, 2800psi with a 6hp Honda engine. Would not want anything less. You can find some units with high PSI number but very low GPM and you can spend a lot of money on a commercial grade unit. In my experience the flow rate is as important the pressure for general household use. I use mine all the time to wash my big John Deere tractor and equipment and it is small enough to pick up and put in the truck and big enough with sufficient pressure and water flow to do what I need it to do.

I recently bought one from Costco. It says power stroke and has a Honda engine. I’m happy so far. The only caveat is that the washer has different tips that quick connect to the spray nozzle. Make sure to test that the tip is seated by spraying towards ground and not something of value or else you have a projectile situation.

I have also had the gas one from Costco for several years. It has a Honda engine and a Karcher pump and it has worked well. I only use it a few times a year but if it was going to see more frequent use and for long periods, I would have opted for something more commercial. It is all about the quality of the pump when it comes to longevity of a gas pressure washer. The less expensive models have cheaper pumps that will not withstand the rigors of frequent, heavy duty use. You can also get commercial washers that will use hot water, not something that can not be done with less expensive washers.

For what it's worth, I would not use my gas pressure washer on my AS. For that I have a smaller, electric pressure washer, which is more suitable for the AS finish.

Definitely shop for a Honda engine. I have a 15 year old Karcher with a Honda. It was originally 2400 psi. When the pump gave out, I upgraded to a 3000 psi pump that was made better than the original. The Honda always starts on one or two pulls and has never given me my trouble.

As far as washing my AS, I use a foam cannon with the pressure washer. I can soap the whole trailer at once and the go back and brush it. I try to do it on a cloudy day or even in a light rain to keep the soap from drying.

If you want one to last many years get Honda GX engine with Cat pump. Try Northern tool.

I have a Craftsman. The pump body has cracked and been replaced several times. It's a lemon.

I have a Yamaha engine with a "Cat" pump. Cat pumps are better than most others.

My Craftsman has a Honda engine. I wonder if I can swap my bad pump out for a Cat pump?

It is possible, however you would have a better pump than engine. The Honda GX engine is far superior to the Honda GC engine that you find on many branded mowers, pressure washers, etc. The Honda GC engine is the economy engine Honda makes to compete with B&S, Generac, etc.

True, the GC engine is a lesser engine than the GX but a lesser cost. I have two GC engines in service that I have had 15 years or so. I have no complaints.

Choose the correct nozzle and don't spray too close and all will be good.

I walked into Costco a few years ago to get a gallon of milk and walked out with a Karcher/Honda power washer. I still catch myself finding excuses to use it.

If you dedicated use is vehicle only most professionals say keep real PSI to 1200 or so. Anything more risks paint damage etc. flow volume is independent.

Same here. Something in the 1200-1500 psi range is about as high as I would go on an AS finish. Although, if you are using a soap cannon with it, I suppose it doesn't matter. If all I had was a higher psi gas washer, I would make sure to keep the tip back from the surface and, as has been mentioned, watch the angle. Trouble is, one screw up and you could do irreparable damage to the AS finish.

IF you have the money and can afford to purchase a pressure washer with HEAT then you have the real deal when it comes to pressure washers as heated pressure washers are not cheap.

Truly amazing that adding hot water to the mix can make such a HUGE difference in cleaning ability over a non-heated pressure washer.
