Polishing woes, can you help??

I'm in the middle of polishing my 68 tradewind and came across some weird horizontal lines that look kind of like oxidation, but after many attempts with both G6 and F9, I haven't been able to remove. Do I keep on keepin' on with the compounding, or is there something other than oxidation that is occurring?

I've attached a picture to better explain the issue, hopefully someone out there can explain why these horizontal lines are so difficult to remove...

Ignore those swirls, F9 has quite a bit of cut.

Horizontal lines

From the pictures, it almost looks like you didn't get all the clear coat removed. Is it happening up top where the clear coat had sunburned off?

Well, it is happening in places where I've stripped more than once, using Removall220. Although I highly doubt that is the case, I'll try stripping it once more and polishing to see if that reduces or eliminates the lines.

Thanks for the input! Anyone else care to chime in?
