Polishing with Nuvite-S
I'm about to start the final phase of polishing my Sovereign. I've never used a cyclo before. What is the best way to go about polishing with the cylco? Should I use the cotton terry cloth pad covers like VTS sells?
Cyclo Cotton Terry
or should I use old sweatshirts/cotton fabric? I'm just not sure which is the best, most preferred method to acheive a mirror shine. I hear the terry cloth pad covers leave minute scratches in the surface. Is this true?

I use the sweatshirt material from perfect polish! Polishing Cloth
Try both if in doubt! Lots of opinions on polishing!

I tried both and had mixed results. If you use the terry clothes from VTS order a lot of them. They go very quick and when they get caked they are garbage. You cant wash them out like the large ones. I would recommend trying both and see what works for you. The cyclone took a lot longer then I had expected and a lot more work than the drill with a 6" pad. But you can get rid of all those swirl marks and the job looks a lot better.

Mike....If your starting the polish job you will need to use stronger medicine than "S"....It all depends on the condition of the starting point. Have fun..

I used the sweatshirt material from Perfect Polish too. You can wash them & use them more than once.

Mike,
I bought my material at a discount store in Phoenix. There is one located just south of Peoria on 19th Ave. I then cut them to the size shown on the Perfect Polish site. They work very well at a fraction of the cost.

Just make sure they are 100% cotton (no polyester) or they will scratch. We bought the ones from Perfect Polish and they have lasted through two trailers. We also use micro-fibre cloths to remove all the residue as a "final pass".

Hi Mike,
At the Resto Rally Levon did a demo using cotton rags he bought at Target or W Mart.
They we in a box of random sizes with most being large enough to wrap and hold by hand ,rotate to clean an toss.Check with him,although I haven't seen him post in awhile.He has polished 13 or so trailers with bar method and finishing with Nuvite and cyclo.I am sure he has tried everything at this point.Steve

I tried sweatshirts and flannel sheets, and the terry cloth pads from VTS. I liked the terry cloth pads, but you must buy the yellow sponge pads to go under them - over the cyclo heads, also thru VTS. No worries when they get caked, put them in a tub and let them soak with soap and water. Rub them together and rinse them out, let them air dry then re-use. To refresh polish I use the F7 then the S.

Not sure if this was already mentioned but we went to a fabric store and bought 100% cotton remnents. They were a hideous yellow/brown color but worked great and cheap. We also followed the Perfect Polish sizing of material, cut the holes in the corners to put over the Cyclo handle and held the bunched fabric on the Cyclo which was fairly easy to handle.

Cotton Rags
Greetings Mike,
I use a box of painters rags (100% cotton) that I bought at Lowes. They come in 10# boxes (approx. $20), most can be used with the cyclo, the ones that are too small are used for cleaning the rivets and other areas. 10# box will do a 20' trailer. When finished just toss....I tried the washing and reusing of cyclo polishing rags but after my wife ASKED me to clean the washing machine (2 hrs spent)....I just toss them away now.

Thanks Levon. I remember you talking about using the 100% cotton rags at the Restoration Rally but didn't remember where you got them. I don't remember, but did you fold these rags over and clamp them in the back or did you just lay the cloth flat and start polishing?

I just laid them flat and put the cyclo on top then pulled the four corners up to the handle and hand held them.
