Hi

The sheet metal in the panels starts out pretty thin. They then stretch it when they form it. That makes it even thinner in some places. Sanding thins it out even more. You may not poke through it. The risk is that it gets thin enough that road crap dents it much easier.

So, completed the last of the polishing on the lower left side today (Saturday, Sept. 30). I'm posting a few more pictures including a couple of.my wife and I. Phyllis has been a huge help throughout. The past few days she's been helping by wiping off rouge residue so I could keep polishing, but she's also been the errand runner, parts procure-er, cook and backrub provider. She also helped strip the clear coat, remove the awnings and she cleaned and pressure washed the awnings. This has definitely been a team function.

Thanks for all of the kind words and encouragement. It's meant a lot. Not including the stripping, we have about 46 days invested in the polishing so far. There's a rally in Jonesborough, Tennessee for the International Story Tellers Festival and I believe we want get the on Wednesday. It's gonna be tight. May not get all of the emblems polished and reinstalled, oh well.

Here is a picture of the spray bottle. I sent Phyllis to a nearby NAPA auto parts store with the request to find an acid based aluminum wheel brightener. This is what the clerk sold her, saying that it's what his customers seem to like. I have no complaints, it did what I needed it to do.

I'd recommend buying a small bottle of concentrate and mixing it in a bucket of water as needed. I found the spray bottle to hard to control. I ended up spraying it into a sponge away from the AS and then wiping it where I wanted it to go. I also kept a water house, a bucket of water mixed with baking soda and a done in it, and a squirt bottle of the baking soda solution right there so I could neutralize the rinse quickly. It works fast I wanted to make sure to neutralize it before it did too much additional pitting. I was probably overly cautious not having done this before, but that's okay. "An once of prevention", do to speak. [emoji2]

Regards,
Pete

Best wax I've ever used called mron glass and it's made by California customs. You can even put it on in direct sunlight let it dry for as long as you want and it still wipes off super easy. Leaves a great shine and lasts. Also as the name implies it can be used on glass windows and windshields . Leaves a crystal clear water repellent finish.

Thanks, much. I'll look into it right away. I'd like to get it done. You seem to know your stuff, so I really appreciate your suggestions and import.

So, I can't remember if I've mentioned it in this thread (and I'm to lazy to check), but we are full time at present. This shiny baby will not be garage kept in between rare excursions. It's outside, uncovered, day-in and day-out. This year after we we leave northern Virginia in a few days we'll make a meandering journey to Tucson, staying there until April. Then back to the East coast, for a few months while we take care of some things in Virginia Beach. I mention this because I'd like to know how often you recommend waxing and how often you recommend buffing with the Cyclo? Oh, and what's a good wash to use for intermittent cleanings?

Regards,
Pete

Very impressive!!!! Your hard work really shows.
After you get relaxed and back to normal living I hope you put together a summary of lessons learned along the way to help guide others.
Any idea of how many hours invested or in general how much time per square foot?

Thank you! Actually I kept a log, so I have a pretty good account of what I did and when. I did not actually record hours because they were pretty similar everyday. We're currently traveling, but your suggestion is noted and something I do intend to do.

Regards ,
Pete
