Polishing near Ft Worth TX

If anyone is looking for polishing in Texas, we recently had our '80 International stripped and polished at Xtreme Detail in Saginaw, TX, just north of Ft Worth. They did a great job at a reasonable price. Ask for John, 817-706-4351

What did they charge per foot, and how long did it take? You can PM if you'd rather not put it out in the open.

Thanks

The original quote to strip and polish our 31' International was $1,500, but he said the price could be higher if the clearcoat was difficult to remove, since some Airstreams are more difficult than others. He said he would test a small area and would give me a firm quote before I left. John keep to his word, tested a small area and said the $1,500 price was firm, because the clearcoat was not going to be a problem, and $1,500 is what I paid. He had a smaller, older Airstream that he was working on, that he said would cost more than mine because it had multiple layers of clearcoat and would require much longer to complete. He keep the Airstream about two weeks, but mostly because I told him there was no rush because I would be out of town. I'll try to post some pictures.

That is a great price for a 31 footer.

Those photos don't work, as it looks like you've attached them from your yahoo email...you might need to upload them by clicking the Go Advanced button, then clicking on the attachment (i.e. the paper clip) and uploading them that way.

WOW!
Impressive.
What would be an estimate on what it will take to maintain this great look?

Looks great.

Could you put up a closeup pic of your rockguard? Don't think I have seen one like that before.

Your Airstream looks great Paul and you must be very satisfied with the results and the price. I've seen higher pricing than that.

I'm definitely satisfied with the results and the price was far less than the quotes I got from the dealers for stripping and polishing. I don't have any close ups of the rock guard, but I believe its the original lexan cover, its cracked and I plan on replacing it soon. Vintage Trailer Supply has a good picture of one like mine. Also, I forgot to mention I had John at Xtreme Detail polish out some new 30lb tanks and he charged $30 each, which seemed fair to me. I'll try to post more pics when I get everything mounted up.

To answer your question jgeradi, John gave me a partial bottle of the polish he uses and he said a once a year or so polish would maintain the shine and I could do it myself or he could do it for $300.

Got my '87 25' Sovereign stripped and polished here in March and they did a great job for the $1500.oo price. And I was proud to pay it. The owner ,John did everything he said he would and stayed in touch with me throughout the three week process. If you want the self satisfaction of doing it yourself,by all means don't be detoured by this good price for a quality shine. Be forewarned that Johns' team doesn't do the very top middle strip for fear of damaging or denting the top edges and you need to remove your own Airstream logo so they can get behind it for the finished look. They won't drill out rivits. That gave me a chance to refresh my logo paint before reattaching it. If you are interested you might want to hurry. There may be a list by now and the price for this much nasty work at this price could probably go up.

i know this is a very old post, but just called John at Xtreme Detail, and they charge 1000 to strip the clear coat, and 3000 to polish, with a 6 week turn around time. John said he has personally polished over 100k airstreams in the past 30 years lol
