After checking around and speaking to the "http://www.thepolishingguru.com/" I found out that it would take at least 6 weeks lead time with over $12,000 to polish my A/S. Time is no problem but does it sound right a price tag of over $12,000 to make it into a mirror finish? What does it take to polish it to such mirror image? I have people who do the buffing of my classic cars, can they do the buffing of A/S to mirror finish? If not why, if yes how? I'm doing the full interior into a retro high tech and then do the mirror finish. Any tips? Thanks

Has anyone done the conversion from gas to diesel? What does it take and how much does it cost?

I have an '06 Safari and the third week I owned it a deer ran into the front curb side corner and put a huge dent in it that went through the stainless steel stone guard and put a huge dent into the corner of the trailer. Mine had the satin finish, too. It doesn't have to have a mirror finish to be a deer target! I took mine back to JC for the repairs so it would be the same as it was when it left the factory. That involved removing the interior furnishings and skins to use hard rivets (Buck rivets). Not cheap!

Steve:
I've been reading all the posting about polishing later model AS motorhomes. I found a link to one where you mentioned a "Polishing Guru" but the fellow didn't keep up his web address. I have 1991 300 LE and wondered if you remembered anything that said the newer models are NOT able to be polished? Something about a different type of aluminum? Appreciate any input. Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,

Steve sold his rig in early October 2012 and hasn't logged on since. As such, it may be a while before he responds. Perhaps someone will be able to offer some information that can help answer your question.

Good luck,

Kevin

Jim,

The Polishing Guru is still in business - he is next door to the Ace Hardware that I frequent. Address: 3231 Kansas Ave, Riverside, CA 92507 Phone (951) 788-7625

He usually has a variety of silver trailers on site. A while back, he installed my rock guard and gave us a tour where I got to see some of the trailers in process. I'm searching for other options for professional polishing.

The polished trailer has MUCH less wind resistance and the reduced drag SIGNIFICANTLY improves gas mileage

And...deer hit the newer, non-polished trailers too. This was AFTER I popped the reefer vent door back out. He hit us center-mass as we were driving about 65 mph.
