Polish Residue Removal
I'm grinding away on my Airstream with Nuvite polishes. I'm getting there, but still a ways to go. I use lacquer thinner to cut the residue, and then use corn starch to get more of it off. This process does not get all the "cloudy" black stuff off.
What is the best way for removing black polish residue?

I used mineral spirits when compounding (N7) then corn starch w/micro fiber towels for the Cyclo with Nuvite S. The micro fiber towel seems to brighten the shine.

All of you are sooo close...thats right, you are getting warmer....warrrmer....Laquer thinner dries to fast and will not only blister your brain and digits, but dries so fast that there is hardly any time to pick it up. Use Kerosene. It stays wettest of all the cleaners and even sort of conditions the aluminum. Oh here are some flamingos for you guys---I asked the owner of theis restaurant if I could do a mural of a flock of flamingos and he said go for it. This is just the beginning of it.

Thank you for the tips !
Thank you for taking the time to help me. I was using lacquer thinner and terry cloth. I found it diluted the polishing mud and spread it around, but left a lot on the surface. It may even make it thin enough to embed in the pores of the aluminum. Corn starch and terry cloth doesn't get it all either.
I heard kerosene works pretty well, and I will try that.

... so many methods, so many opinions. I wonder who is right? I am going with Rob. I use the same method as him.

We used mineral spirits and it got all of the black residue off pretty well. We found that we needed to wash the surface off that was polished with water the same day to avoid a wierd rainbow effect (not sure if this was due to the mineral spirits or the polish).

I have had good luck with diesel fuel. It dries even slower than mineral spirits or kerosene.
May actually take a day or to to dry if it is near freezing out.
I wash it off with hot water and Dawn dishwashing detergent
