Hello all - we have a 2006 Bambi Safari and when it is parked at home it is under a pine tree. Unfortunately this means sap on the trailer. Is there any product that will remove the sap relatively easily and not damage the trailer?

Goo Gone might be worth a try. I've used that on my AS for various things and no problems.

Some people swear by "Skin so Soft" which is also good as a bug repellent. However if you know anything about Skin So Soft, it's mainly mineral oil.... save a ton of money and use regular mineral oil. It's also pretty good for softening and removing dead bugs.

Hello, That is a constant problem here in Montana. A little vegetable oil on a paper towel melts it. I haven't tried it on aluminum yet, so try in an out of the way spot. I use it on me, the dog, carpet, and everything else. Just wash it off with soap and water afterwards. The first time I heard it, I thought it was a joke- but it works. Bruce

Butter (margarine) works well for pitch on hands and clothes. Wash with soap and water after. Don't see why it wouldn't work on aluminum.

I don't know how well it works but I was just looking at vlamica's post about "Anti-corrosion aircraft wax". Well I was checking out the site he linked on there and they have some stuff just for removing dried sap. It says that it is safe enough to use on your car, so I would assume that it should be safe for clear coats.

For getting sap off of my hands I have used old fashioned cold cream... don't know if the oils would do anything to the finish.

If nothing else works you might try diluted Simple Green and rinse well with clean water. There's been discussion on this forum about corrosive effects of the product on aircraft aluminum if residue is left but I find it works well in cleaning up all sorts of mess on show cars and the like. It's readily available at most auto supply stores. Pour it into a bucket of water and it suds up like soap, dilute it into a spray bottle or use it full strength for hard to clean stains. Remember, rinse well.
