OK all you polishing folks, don't laugh too hard

Of course, my wife is laughing at me as I type, but I've stumbled across something useful to those of us who spend a fair amount of time covered in that lovely black gunk which is a relatively unavoidable by-product of the polishing process...

So, I'd recently spent an afternoon in the forementioned activity, when I had to stop and get cleaned up to go to dinner. Well the wife has all sorts of soaps and scrubs and whatever in the shower, and, meeting with the usual mild success, when it came time to wash the face. Not being too keen with using deodorant soap on my face, I tried one of the myriad bottles on the shelf, in this case, Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser. Well, I figured it was for the face and couldn't hurt, so I gave it a whirl. It cut the grime like mineral spirits does on aluminum. I didn't have to scrub or anything; it was like I was in one of those commercials with the screaming Billy Mays. Anyway it works equally well on the arms, and on the legs if you happened to be wearing shorts. I don't know if my pores are any more refined, but my skin looks and feels great! So if you want a way to get the grunge off without taking a layer of epidermis with it, and do so without smelling like a floral shop exploded, give this stuff a try - it really does the job, and fast!

I find that plain old laundry soap cuts this stuff just as easliy....and I have no problem putting it on my face either...its on all my clothes anyways. John

Thanks for the great tip. I'll try it next time I'm grungy. I'd like to find something that works as well as fast orange without the toxic chemicals.

BTW, this is disgusting, but another thing that will clean your hands right up is handling raw chicken. Of course, you won't want to eat the chicken then...

I first heard about it from a friend who worked at KFC and came in with car dirt he just couldn't get off his hands, but by the end of his shift they were clean as a whistle - eeeewwwwwww.

Aw Stef, did you have to go and tell us that? I used to love KFC before I knew that car dirt was the secret ingredient.

Thank you....thank you....thank you.... for the great revelations contained in this post. I will add all of them to the 'cleaning' section of my notes.

On a more practical side, I use a waterless moist towel put out by Kimberly-Clark that does a great job of getting just about everything off of your hands, arms, knees, etc.... why......it even joes a good job of keeping the little no-see-ems at bay for a couple of hours......and NOTHING works on them!!!

Dave, I can't tell whether you just wanted me to be comfortable wearing my pink shirt or you're looking for a job at one of those NY ad agencies that photographs their models wearing "dead" makeup in contorted poses!

Are the moist towlettes the 'scrubs in a bucket'? I got a bucket of those from a friend and they were the greatest thing ever for cleaning grease and dirt off everything - hands, tools, car parts. They were even great for giving the engine compartment a quick wipedown. Best of all they were supposed to be non-toxic. Great stuff!
