If they are big red ones, they are the WBCCI Wally Byam Caravan Club International numbers. If you belong to it you get a number.

I think there was a posting earlier that explained how those numbers were used to ID the travels of folks like us by using satellites. Something about Missle Targeting???

Actually some people even put the numbers on the top, makes the trailer easier to track by air if something happens. A lot of freight companies do it to, to track stolen trailers. I seriously doubt anybody would want to steal mine...

Here's what both the Red (WBCCI) and the Blue (Forums) number look like up close on my Airstream.

We just purchased a used Airstream and joined WBCCI. How do we get off the old numbers (still on the rear) and the ghost of the old numbers (on the front)?

I think WBCCI folks tell you to use a hair dryer to heat up decals which will allow them to peel off. There are other products, one I know called Undo which allow the sticky gunk to soften.

The ghosting is a different matter since what you have is a finish that has been protected from the UV and weather while the rest of the area has not been. I'm really not sure if there is a good way without involving something with an abraisive. I think most folks just live with the ghost.....or join WBCCI and see if the ghosted numbers are available. This is sort of why I didn't put mine up when I belonged.......now that I dropped out, I'm especially happy they weren't up there.
