need polishing protocol
A bit of history first. I have been polishing a 66 Safari with a large amount of filiform and corrosion, I am about done with the first round. I have a Dewalt polisher and have been using the Caswell black bar to cut through everything, which while extremely dirty, has done an admiral job. I have been using the yellow treated wheels and have worn out three of them so far.
So now it's time to contemplate the next round, and this is where I need some help ... I do have two white bars from Caswell along with several more yellow wheels, BUT I also have jars of Nuvite in 7-9-S-and C. I am waiting for the arrival of a new Cyclo which should be hear any day.
Because the black bar/polisher is such a really messy deal, I am wondering whether I can go ahead and which to the Nuvite polishes. Suggestions? If so where to start, because it looks good as it stands now, should I start working the HEAVY swirls left from the black bar? If so in what order? Or work those down with the finer white bars from Caswell then go into the Nuvite products?
One major issue may be our temps here in Mich. The trailer is in an unheated garage, but I do have access for a propane garage heater and the tanks off the AS should hold enough gas to get some work done. It's my understanding the the Nuvite products don't like the cold so I do wonder if that will be a deal breaker. Please if you have any insight on this toss it out so I can keep this thing going throughout the winter months.
Thanks in advance,
Barry & Karen in sunny Mich.

Thanks! I see you ordered the Cyclo Pro 5, did you find any advantage to being able to regulate the speed of it? Also did you end up using all the different pads you ordered in the pack or just the orange?
I don't have any of the brown bar so will try the white bar with the yellow wheel as a second go round and see how that goes... Your rig looks great congrats!!

I used nuvite to polish my 34'. I used the rotary polisher /wool pads for the f9, f7, and g, then the cyclo for the s.
Vintage trailer supply has a great step-by-step on their website

I only used the orange pads and only to hold the polishing cloths.

I did pretty much one complete step with the brown bar. I never used any white at all. I still have the full white bar I bought.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy. The forum taught me what to do and how to do it. Good luck with your project.

I also used the Vintage Trailer Supply/Perfect Polish system on our 65 Safari. IMO it works great! Compounding is very messy no matter what system you use. I am still using the first set of wool pads for my dewalt. Nuvite F7 & C with Dewalt and then F7 with Cyclo to remove any swirls then Nuvite S with Cyclo for deep mirror shine.

I had to remeasure it occasionally to make sure it was still only 34' long!
definitely worth the effort

I used these:
Wool Compounding Polishing Pads
Using the correct pads makes ALL the difference. I bought 7; when they got dirty/ caked up, I swapped to a fresh one. Go all day, then clean all 7 and ready for the next day and do it again.

I used the same wool pads as c_lewis77. I have 5 and changed them often. At the end of a polishing day I washed them out and hung to dry for the next polishing session. Important that they are completely dry. Best of luck.

So you used the wool pads on your Cyclo, or on your dewalt polisher? What pads did you use on your Cyclo if other than the wool pads?
Thanks for the help,
