Mothers mag and aluminum?

...well we just went out there and bought a can of Mothers Mag and aluminum polish...when I read on the directions it said polish til a black residue appears then etc etc...has any of you folks had pretty good results? Or is it going to leave a haze...we also got turtle wax brand 'rubbing compound to see if it works too. we ran out of nuvite g-6 and have some S left...I will post some pictures this evening and show ya'll what I came out with.

I have used Mothers on motorcycles for years, great stuff, the paste polish seems to work the best. I have been rubbing the door on the Airstream with Mothers it is starting to shine, but much work. Adios, John

The skin is in pretty good condition so we are beleiving its going to work..the nuvite is great but pricey. We are just hoping this will be a good alternative polish and saw other postings about it...what do you think about the rubbing compound to pull out small scratches and stuff? I have never used it on metal.

When I replaced the weatherstripping on my Overlander I used Mothers to polish around the frames with good results. It is a lot of work tho. I am prepping for full polish and thought it was a good idea to have 2 " around the window done.

Has anyone ever used an electric buffer with mothers?? Saves a lot of work.... I did the alcoa wheels on my 345, I would've never gotten them done by hand. You should see a black residue appear as well, Mothers is good but I used Busch's on mine.

with mothers...we were at least glad to see it pulling up oxidation..and I figure if its doing that, then its doing the job. Plus the shine left behind seems to be in good order and we are useing the cyclo with good results, but mostly the big deal is to GET THAT OXIDATION OFF!

I used Mothers with good result for the final polish. Applied with cyclo.

I tried the Mother's along with a dozen other products on my heavily oxidized trailer. It just would not cut through to create a shine. I tried it with a buffer but still poor results. I'm going to have to bite the bullit and order some Nuvite.

I used mothers with the Cyclo on my 81 and I'm happy with the results. I saw no reason to spend more on Nuvite. Pictures are posted on this site. http://www.airforums.com/photos/brow...mageuser=15121

I have used rubbing compound with light surface scratching and it did a fine job. As a matter of fact, my Tradewind's orginial owner's notes indicate the dealer suggested it. It leaves swirl marks, so I followed with Nuvite S and the cyclo.

Mothers aluminum polish

We finished out this p.m. so these pictures are sketchy...the rubbing compound was that red oxide looking stuff (stuff!) and I was feeling for the grit in it, which it had...ran the cyclo for everything and finished with S. And I will say it again, that if this product is pulling out the oxidation then thats what matters most. But I tell you what, there sure is a lot of Black coming out of it! Ha.
