moss mold and other green stuff - bleach?

The seam areas of my 2005 are gunking up with green that does not wash off easily. I can blast most of it off with a high-pressure hose, but I hesitate to do this fearing water intrusion.

How do 'ya feel about spraying it with a dilute bleach solution? Would it damage the plasticote or the aluminum? Any other preferred sprays?

I use Maguire's Wash/wax and a soft bristled brush. You don't want anything that's going to force water into the seams, and you don't want anything to scratch the clearcoat. If you can find a cleaner and scrub brush that are automotive clear coat approved, it is as good as you will likely find.

I agree too....I would also not put any bleach on the finish.

I had pretty good results using KrudKutter and an automotive carwas brush with a hose attachment so that water ran through the brush. My clear coat is not in particularly good shape though and I can not say absolutely whether or not it did anything to the clear coat.

I have recently seen ads on TV and shelves full of a moss/mold removal product at Lowes that supposedly is delicate on the underlying material and the environment. The product is called 30 Seconds. Check it out at the following Lowes website link.

Concentrate (1 Gallon)

Has anyone used this product? I need to clean my AS off again and might give this stuff a try. If I do I will report back.

Be careful!

The finishes on the "vintage" units is fairly different that the finishes of units made from say mid 1999 to present day. Even Walbernize makes 2 versions one for the older skins and one for the newer skins.....

I didn't know that! What is the difference between the two versions? I have only seen the newer version for sale. Where would one find the older version?

It use to be on the Airstream Store site. It use to say for one- "for trailers made from..." and the other one stated for "trailers made from...."

I went to the store to link it, and could no longer find it, but I do know the finishes on mid 1999 were when the coatings were put on at Alcoa and no longer done at the factory. One coating was called plasticoat and I think the other was just known as the Alcoa treated material. Someone with greater knowledge of it could post volumes about it I'm sure.......
