mirror finish what next?
Hi All,
I stripped a panel and brought it to a mirror finish using aluminum polish. Now what? I'm enroute, so I can't order anything to be mailed to me. Do I need to put something on this mirror finish or just keep it clean and wax it forever?

The only thing I know to do is to put Rolite sealer on it - which is probably a mail order thing.... I suppose you could call Rolite and ask them for a dealer list...

Go to the www.perfectpolish.com site for some great polishing information. They sell Nuvite polish and sealers there also. Go to www.topoftheline.com for Rolite polish and sealers.

mirror finish - how to keep it?
After you have that mirror finish, what is recommended to keep it. I have checked out the Rolite Metal Polish, and a Polymer Sealant wax, HT-62 Terminator, who recommends which one and why. I would like to keep my finish with the least amount of up-keep. Thanks

In my opinion. No matter what type of wax you put on after the mirror shine. You will always need to do the yearly polish. MAybe more if you live near the beach. Mine sits out side all year and endures the rain and sun. Once a year I spend 2-4 weekends ( couple hours a day) going over it with the cyclo polisher and "Nuvite S". I hope this helps.

Yes, and it has been done.
But, we do not polish Airstreams.

Hi Eric,
You mentioned you're enroute. You wouldn't happen to be through the St.Louis area would you? If so, I'd be happy to coat your pannel for you.
When we polish any thing from sheet aluminum to billet parts to wheels, we use Sharkhide Metal Protectant to protect the finish. In your application, you'll see several years o protection between coats.

I agree with Robert...It will kinda become an annual Spring polishing ritual for me once I get mine completely done over the next couple weeks. I think however, it will only take one day to "reshine" my Safari every Spring with my cyclo.

Hmmm, thought I read somewhere that they changed the type of aluminum used, was it sometime in the '80s, so that the exterior would not polish up to a real mirror finish like the older ones. Wasn't there some extra suface coating of a special softer aluminum before, well, I want to say 1982?
Or maybe I just dreamed all of that...
