Making it shiny in Austin, Texas

Hi! I have a 1967 AS which is in relatively great shape but needs to be polished. (I don't know how to tell whether or not it has anything on it that needs to be stripped first). Can anyone tell me where I could take it to have someone do it? I know there are lots of you "do-it-yourselfers" out there - but the thought of that is overwhelming so I need to find someone who could do it for me. Any advice you can give me on where to take it would be much appreciated!

A good start would be to go to and check out their section on polish and tools, which includes a "how to" guide that we found pretty helpful.

Checkout the Austin Craigslist - there is a fellow on the list who advertises from time to time that he has a polishing service.

Welcome from a fellow Austinite Overlander owner. There are a few of us here on the Forums.

This is the Craiglist ad that was referenced above.

classifieds - craigslist

Just to warn you, it will probably cost between $3,000 and $4,500 for them to do your trailer. If you're okay with that, then by all means carry on.

Good luck!
