anyone can tell me what is the best technique for removing the marks (swirls) on the aluminum after being polished. I have used different methods but I have not been able to achieve remove the marks. The marks can only be viewed closely by far can not be seen. The work is still not satisfactory for me, because I've seen other AS almost perfectly polished. Viewing from the bottom up are black marks. Here are some pictures of the materials currently used have already. The firs pic show some spots no very shine.

have you read the miscellaneous literature at perfectpolish.com? they seem to be doing alright.

I'm trying to polish our trailer right now as well. I think that the corrosion is pretty bad though, as it seems to be taking quite a few passes to get all the filiform and cloudy spots out.

But hey, whatever. I'm starting to enjoy it.

Well by looking at your collection you certainly have everything under control...or should I say - under the sun!
Seems like you eventually will come up with the right formula. but you might try kerosene for picking up the black as it stays wetter longer and allows you to work more steadily with the polishing itself out detail. Sometimes the swirl marks just disappear.

Yes I've already read the technique described in at perfect polish.com.And I did several passes with different
rougue bars, but no luck yet.

The only way I know to remove swirl marks is to use a random orbit machine such as a Cyclo. Cyclo has two heads. Porter Cable makes a single head machine.

I use a Cyclo.

After compounding w/Nuvite 7 (many passes), to remove swirls I first used Nuvite 7 again w/Cyclo (sometimes 2 to 3 passes) then used Nuvite S w/cyclo. I did have a few areas w/clouds and the only way I got them out was to recompound w/N7. Then re-cyclo with N7 and S. I used mineral spirits to clean surface when compounding and then went to corn starch for cyclo work. Lots of work! When done I found it worth the work as it is still turning heads over a year later. Good luck with yours.

One more thing - I found my best success when I used the soft cotton sweatshirt material from Perfect Polish on my cyclo. I also changed over to a clean spot on the cotton often.

We use mineral spirits (instead of kerosene) to remove compound before switching to the next finer grade. The Cyclo w/"S" & microfiber cloth is the key to a mirror shine IMO. Also, be sure your pads/buffs are clean - we "rake" them every couple of passes and wash them in TSP at the end of each day's work.

Be sure that when you compound, you lighten up toward the end to remove as much swirl as you can. This will make it much easier to get the final finish you want.

Also, I compound with "C". It is not as aggressive as "F". and does not leave the heavy swirls.

The compounding pass is the most important pass in the process.

Then I Cyclo with "F", then with "S". I always use new fleece material with "S", never used and washed. Used and washed is OK for "F", but not "S".

Clean the surface between applications, and use the "S" very sparingly.

Clouds are usually caused by a previous pass not being done enough, most likely the compounding pass.

We just did re-polish on ours. One trick I discovered was to challenge myself as to how little Nuvite S I could use with the Cyclo. I used the microfiber Cyclo pads, changing them out for clean ones very frequently. Seriously, you don't need very much S. Try just a few fingerprints of the S in a 2' x 2' area.

looks like a duo head cyclo is the only way to remove swirls. Can't shake the swirls with a 7" polisher, no matter what I use.

Looks like a duo head cyclo is no where to be found to buy or rent where I live. So I'm going to try my 7" polisher with a foam pad. Any thoughts/help would be appreciated. This airstream restore would have been so much easier if i lived in the US.

Sorry, I should have specified that I'm in Saskatchewan. Thanks for the links. I would love to rent to see if it would work first. Here is a photo of the side that I have used medium grit and fine grit with a wool pad, and Maguires Swirl Remover with a foam pad on a 7" variable speed polisher. Is there any way to remove these without a cyclo? It looks great when the Sun isn't blasting on it. It am still hoping there is a non cyclo solution.

Any help would be appreciated. It's been a couple weeks of frustration.

TIA

Swirls on new AS

How much of it is normal? Had my Bambi for 2 months. Brand new. Dropped it off at the dealer this AM to address issues and it was under the sun like I had never seen it before. Noticed swirls when close and at certain angles. Had not noticed that when camping. Of course, we’re often camping in the woods so these would not show without full sun light. Did mention to the dealer and they said they could Walbernize it for me and that it would address the issue. Good answer? How much if it is normal? I’ve not washed it yet so it can’t that. Either factory or dealer prep induced. Any info appreciated.

It’s the best thing to do at this point.

How much will they charge to Walbernize?

If you buy it yourself, make sure you get the Super Seal. The Cleaner Polish & Glaze is for older trailers. My dealer sold me the wrong stuff and it seemed to introduce swirl marks.
