Question How are you all keeping the shine

We have done one half of our camper with the finish coat using the nuv-s...its dull with water spots only after two months...I thought once you had a shine it would last awhile.....was i wrong? What are you all using for a finally coat?

I used NuFinish in the orange bottle on my Safari. Seemed to keep it pretty good.

Did you compound first?

Can you describe the condition of the aluminum before you started? And what method of polishing did you use? Compound then cyclo? Which grades of Nuvite?

Hello angel73,
even with a great shine and polish, nature has other plans for aluminum.
It will start to revert oxidize right away .It will require upkeep alot .I say try
something suggested here , car wax is a good idea ,or liquid glass .
remember airstream clearcoated trailers for a reason ,although I as many
want the nice shine ,so I have to keep after our tradewind to keep it looking
shiny The waxes or liqiud glass will help keep the water spots away .Pure
fresh polished aluminum are a conductor for water spots.

I had a problem with a polymer enriched sealant after final polish with AP-300. It left splotches everywhere. I contacted the manufacturer and they said I had to wipe the entire trailer down with mineral spirits to get rid of any trace of prior polish. I was then to put the sealant down and wipe it off before it dried. I don't know if others had to do this with their sealant or not?

I just bought a 1973 31' Excella and plan to polish it after mechanical repairs. I stopped at Northgate RV in Hixson, TN (near Chattanooga) to have the brakes wired. Harvey, the manager, was great and stayed way after hours to get the job done.

He said that they polish it and then use clear coat to keep the finish shining. I asked about the clear sticking to aluminum and he said to use more hardener and there are no problems.

I have no personal experience and have not had time to ask my painter friends or aviation repair friends.
