I had 2. A Auto buffer that had a steering wheel handle did not last. HF buffer/ grinder lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.

I use a Meguires dual-action polisher... seems pretty solid and has some fancy features as well. Also, if you get into their pro-series of equipment, they make a full line up of cutting/polishing compounds that worked great for me. Their newest stuff stays very consistent while cutting, and if you want you can stick with Meguires start to finish.
I got it on eBay, and a whole package to polish my truck was about $250... compounds, pads, polisher and everything. Pricey, but worked really nice.

Before you start with an angle grinder, make sure you double check the rpm requirements.
I used the pads flat against the AS and the recommended rpms were no more than 3200 or so. The "wheel/edge" method may be different.
I believe my dewalt angle grinder is in the 8000 rpm range. A little too fast

To keep that mirror look you will need to stay at it ever year, and the Harbor Frieght just won't handle it. I went with the Dewalt and very happy with it, handles the pads without any problems..........toastie

I am a fan of the HF Buffer...
If I had the $200 for a better one I would have bought it... but would it be a wise investment??
I seem to remember I got paid about $30 with the 20% off coupon.
The 2 year warrantee was another $20 I think.
You get some fresh bushes with each one... Not used them yet...
The first one died... or I can I admit that I killed it!
It did the whole really really badly oxidized rear cap, most of the front, and about half of one side of my 34.5' MH.
I have used it with a wool buffing pad AND with an 10" edge wheel... and both have been seriously leaned on!
Also, it fell off the roof of the MH at least once and a few more times from lower heights.
Also I was running it on my MH genset, and a portable generator, which I am sure is less than healthy current...
When you return them they give you a free buffer, but you pay for the warrantee on the new one... $20.
The 2nd HF buffer seems to be hanging in there so far, and if you have seen my polishing thread, you know both of them have been.."Ridden hard and put away wet!"
Not including my Cyclo, which I have barely used for this basic polish, I have invested about $70 in machinary so far, and the results are satisfying me...

Same story here. Bought the first one, buffed out my entire interior...burned out and warranty covered number two which I will be using on the exterior. $50 bucks well spent.

I found a cyclo on Craigslist for $120. Like it. Prior to that used a variable speed from Harbor Freight.
I buy from HF if I am only going to use a tool once or twice. My brother always said if your life or livelihood depends on it..... get a dewalt.

This is the Compounding Polisher I am using for first cuts...
7" Electronic Polisher
And this is the Dual Action I am using...
6" Variable Speed Dual Action Polisher
I was wrong about the warrantee... it was $10, not $20.
Buy a Hot Rod Magazine or the like and you will see a 20% off coupon for whatever you buy... and this montth the DA unit is $49.99, minus another 20% which pays for the warrantee!
Thats just the way I am rolling until I can afford better!

Which HF polishing tool did u purchase?
Did u use it o strip off the clear coat?
I am debating whether to buy a dewalt or harbor freight
I have a 34' classic I want to shine like a star.

Plenty of info in the sticky thread in this forum...
The tools I bought are in the links in my previous post, but you need to strip off the clearcoat first with a chemical stipper.

buy the HF polisher, use the money you save to buy the cyclo.
at $40, I bought 2 just in case one died. Both still work fine.
I haven't found a better tool to remove the swirls on the final pass of Nuvite S than the Cyclo. I tried a standard DA polisher and it took more effort with marginal results; cyclo worked like a champ!
with the 34' you will appreciate the "less effort" part
I used a plastic scraper (be careful not to scratch) to get the clear coat/ stripper off, then soapy water. Small sections at a time.
in general I have found there aren't many if any shortcuts to the process. dont skimp on the wool pads/ or airwheels (depending on which method you are using), they make all of the difference. Especially when you have 34' to work with.
BTW, you are required to post pics when you start the process.... it is in the rules!
