Gravel in a Bottle ...!

I talk about this product a lot for use in prepping aluminum skin, Was polishing yesterday and had a chance to make a picture for you. It's nickname is ;Gravel in a Bottle' - comes in ample quantity- for this size bottle (about 14.00) Stays wet longer. and I personally use kerosene to remove the black oxidation. Then I use Mother Aluminum cream to finish. The essence of the kerosene left behind - allows a longer smoother final polish - and just keep polishing out til the black is gone. 'Gravel' is made by 3M. It works well on ALCLAD, and makes it look like mercury silver when done. Just thought you could use the info.

The 3M product comes from R & E Paint supply- or who I order it from...it is listed at 14.99 for a creme liquid quart. ( that is a lot of polish) But when shipping the price goes up to around 20 -24 dollars maybe more.
Get you some good ol kerosene...many t-shirts and sweat shirts turned inside out.
Get a good sized bottle of Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish from any auto motive place- it's affordable too.
If your soveriegn has any old clear coat left in small areas on it- get a can of zip strip paint remover.
Before you start pick a place that is not over your head but easy to reach- like right in front of you or sitting.
Wipe the (about a two by two foot) area with the kerosene on a rag, it's ok that some residue is left as this works good with not allowing the surface to dry so fast. Alot of this you will figure out just by trying. Pinstripers use kerosene to keep their paints wetter while working on long lines. You did not say if you had a cyclo polisher (which helps) But I will tell you I have used the GRAVEL by hand using those terry cloth polish pads. It will gently cut through and raise all the grime and oxidation- you will see black all over that area. And you are to next take some more kerosene on a t-shirt and wipe away the black stuff. Once it's gone you will have aslightly damp surface that looks foggy. Now apply the MOTHERS with your fingertips kind of scattered around and proceed to polish again..this time you will raise black again...but this time keep polishing til the black turns shiny- er...flip to a clean rag or pad and keep going til the black is gone. You then should have that mirror reflection that nuvite does. If not- well you will get used to this stuff and I certainly hope you like it, and show us some pictures!
