Got her stripped!!

Well, we have stripped our AS of her clearcoat. Actually me mostly, Harold did help wash her off. And whoever said they could strip an Airstream in a couple of hours, Is full of S&%(. Holy cow, It took me a good 9 hours to get all the clear off.

I tried 2 different products. One was called "Smart Strip" which is envormentally safe, doesn't burn your skin and is water soluable. You almost trowel it on. Let is sit anywhere from 3 to 24 hours, It doesn't dry out and then scrub it to lossed the clearcoat and then wash it off. It work very well. Then for the really stubborn spots I used Aircraft Stripper, burns the skin, hated using it but it also did it's job.

She looks pretty good! Not super shiney, but very nice. The first pictures shows her covered in the smart strip. picture 2 is her before the stripping.
number 3 is her all stripped. I don't know why the picture only makes the end cap look shiney but the rest of her is shiney too!

Great job. It has to feel good having it all done.

Congrats! Of course, if you were to polish it would be really shinny! Not to give you any ideas of course

The aircraft stripper is some nasty stuff but it does the job. Be aware that it will also "eat" away at the sealer in between the seams. I noticed the putty become soft and would wipe away when we cleaned ours during polishing.
