Gords Polish

I just posted this on the Avion site, but thought it might be of interest to some of you guys also....
********************************
Hi,
assuming you are not anodized, polishing the aluminum to a mirror finish is really much easier than you may think. Check out http://gordsaluminumpolish.com - I am not affiliated in any way other than to tell you it really, really works well. Just watch the Videos on the link of Gord polishing various bits and stuff if you don't believe me.

A few years back I built a "Lotus 7" inspired roadster from scratch using aluminum sheet skins. Brought them from dull "mill finish" to a mirror finish in about 2-4 minutes per square foot, with just a scotchbrite pad followed by regular 90 degree buffer.

Unfortunately my old '86 Avion 34V is anodized.....but I will cofess that I'm really tempted to break out the oven cleaner to "de-anodize" it.... but have not yet plucked up the courage.

Anyone out there done this for real...?

Hope this helps you polishing types.... FYI The Gords polish is not very expensive either!

Here's another link about that polish. It's pretty old, now. I wonder if Rich Luhr was able to test it further.

I don't know anything about this stuff, but I had my 1968 Streamline completely cleaned to brand new by a gentleman in Gilroy, CA. His website is metal wax.com The product is phenominal. I had been told that there was nothing that would clean anodized aluminum. This stuff does.

That is indeed the prescribed method to removing anodization....

Might try this on the vintage hubcaps I'm redoing - more work keeping them up but the look would be better I think.

Thanks....
