General Question About Filiform Corrosion

I'm considering the RV lifestyle and in investigating Airstream Trailers two issues seem to set them apart from the rest. Filiform Corrosion and Frame Rust.
With regards to Filiform Corrosion, why is it that only newer Airstreams are affected by this? Is the quality of the aluminum in newer trailers at fault? Is there nothing that will prevent this completely? So Far, most of the information that I've seen revolves around treating the corrosion as it appears.

It only affects some trailers and is only cosmetic. Frame rust only a problem on very old trailers as far as I know. Jim

So what does one need to do with an Airstream to minimize or prevent filiform corrosion?

Sorry.....hit reply too soon. This is a very long thread about the subject. Very long. The corrosion can be treated and controlled. I would actually read the thread backwards if you simply want to know the preventative measures to take.
