Look up WALBERNIZE and PAR-FE (as a start). Top auto waxes can go above $100/can as a comparison. What you can buy off the shelf is usually cheapest chemistry with largest ad budget. The right materials/supplies are always cheap.

I have heard of using walbernize on clearcoat. I would be curious if it is as effective on the bare aluminum

Walbernize was designed for the clearcoat, PERIOD, and only.

There ar many other very good waxes to use.

I am using Meguires Ultimate (synthetic) on my vehicles; I will probably use that on the polished aluminum.
speaking of wax protection, the neighbor just got the entire side of the AS with poorly aimed sprinklers and now I have hard water spots down the entire street side. Fabulous! Anyone have a rope?
