Finally polishing my 34'

Started polishing my Airstream. It doesnt look like much oxidation until you see the polished part against the old part!
Here are some progress pics day 2

You're going to be able to see that thing from space when you are done. Better by some good shades for the eyes for those sunny days.

Day 3
One side almost done! A coat of nuvite f, and a little c on nose. The nooks and the window trim have been very stubborn.
Overall it is turning out great. I cant wait to take it camping again! My neighbors are going to hate me! Haha

@phillipks:
I have found that having the right tools and materials makes all of the difference. I struggled a little at first. When I switched equipment/buffing pads, I really started making headway. Slow and steady. The results are instantly dramatic.... Good for the instant gratification thing.
At the recomendation of another forum member, I found a variable speed polisher for about $40 at harbor freight. Buffing pads and nuvite f/c/s from vintage trailer supply. (the buffing pads at vts are great).
The results are well worth the effort. If you are unsure, polish a smalll section..... Then you have to finish!

Awesome!!! rough math on a 34 = about 118' of aluminum. My hat is off to you, I couldn't do it, but dang it sure looks good.

Contemplated starting a strip and polish on my 80 Excella and wondered whether it would really have much effect on it. After looking at your pictures enough said

After 30 years, the clearcoat was in pretty rough shape. I used "superstrip" to get the clear off. I pourd it into a small shallow bucket and used a paint brush to apply. Then used a plastic scraper to remove the clear and soap and water to rempve what was left. It took a couple of tries in a few areas. Not a difficult process, you just have to be patient.

Thanks....kind of what I thought. Stripping is a filthy job...yet your project looked intact and in beautiful shape. I like doing it like you did.

Count me in with the WOW! gang.

My clear coat is failing badly (no surprise, 40th birthday coming in a couple of years), and I have been watching any mention of stripping an AS TT.

Lots of folks talk about having the stripper product eat/ruin/disfigure the plastic on the TT. Can you comment on what you did to protect the plastic bits, or is that stripper product more benign?
