Back in MS checking on the A/S what a surprise it looks as good as when I finished polishing. No water spots so the Turtle Wax worked. I had some time so I tried a new wax I picked up at camping world and it made the shine haze over so I went back to the Turtle Wax and gave it a fresh coat of wax. Not sure if it was necessary but trying to avoided the water spots. I still plan on going over the whole trailer one more time with the SS. We are spending this and next month on the road in the RV ( SOB). So far have visited OK, AR ,TN, MS heading for east TN, AL, SC, GA, FL, LA and back to OK mid June.
Vern how are you coming on the manual ???

southern shine
Does anyone have the link to the instructions someone posted for using the SS with the harbor freight polisher???
Also, I just started stripping the clearcoat and the Back to Nature worked great on my 78.
Thanks,
Craig

update
Here are a few pictures showing the power of Turtle Wax.
First picture is right after stripping and waxing Sept 2003.
Second is a year later (did some touch up wax in June 2004) pic taken Oct 2004.
Third is orignal (never rewaxed) after polishing and waxing Sept 2003.

RiskIt,
Since we are an Authorized Airstream Dealership, whatever you might need can be ordered. Vintage parts is another issue, of course.
Call me personally, anytime after 9 am, and we'll our best to get whatever you might require.
The turn around time depends on Airstream, of course.
They've been fantastic to work with..
ciao

I Need the final Answer Please
Hey ya'll. Thanks for the great info on polishing and the great pics. I have a 1979 24' Motorhome that was profesionally stripped and polished to a mirror finish about 6 years ago. Unfortunately, that was before I owned it and it sat out in the weather for 5 years before I bought it. It is still pretty shiny but has dulled and has some milky or spotted areas. Looked like it just needed a touch upo so I had a crew of buddies help hand polish it with Marine Aluminum polish from Walmart and it come back about 80%.
Now, to do this correctly, what would you reccommend to get that last 20% of shine.
Seems like I need to buy a cyclo and some grit of polish and then seal it with wax ?
All the grit numbers have me confused. What do you think would be best?
Thanks,
Josephhh

Josephhh,
Welcome to the Polisher's corner~!
Without looking at it and, from the description given..
I'd say..
Borrow a cyclo polisher and with lots (4 to 6) of good wool polish pads, try using some "S" grade polish for the indepth finish..
Share some pictures of your unit's polish..
Good Luck`!
ciao

Wow a hand polish job - hats off to you all - thats work. It takes about 4-5 times at much work for the last 20% as it did to get the first 80%. I would get some power (either cylco or polisher) and some aircraft polish - it will make the job much easier.

Ken J,
I couldn't agree more..
Before I picked up my polishin tools, I started out working on a small area just to see what I could do by hand..
The results and efforts behind doin "hand polish'in" is quite awesome~
But, the only thing lackin was that mirror depth look one finds in the "final polish" step using the Cyclo..
CABIN FEVER??
I'm in sore need of a "polishin fix" and, it can only be cured by gettin my hands back on my unit this Spring..
Has anyone, to date, finished their polishin project yet?

So you miss being sore, tired, very black - you miss the wife yelling at you for making the whole house black - not to mention that great smell of fresh polish - kinda like the fresh smells of spring.....
