Exterior Finish Questions-85 Excella
My 1985 Excella-31' Airstream's top surfaces are turning white and the finish is slowly going away. The sides are in much better shape and would appear to last a few more years.
Question: Has anyone tried or considered coating the top with
the white elastomeric product by KoolSeal?
This product would appear to be fairly durable since it is an elastomer, it is available at Camping World and has internet site.
It would be brush painted over the cleaned and lightly sanded surface. From Curbside Zipdee awing across to just below the
seam of the top aluminum panel on the road side. At front and
back it would just go beyond the top panel seam on each end, but not down onto the curved end domes.
The white surfaces would be almost out of sight from ground level, much like the white tops on the new Airstreams.
I have refinished a 24' Argosy before with PPG automotive paint and primers and have considered refinishing the top using PPG
clearcoat DAU 75, Delclear Acrylic Urethane. It would be used over surface prepared by Metal cleaner DX579 and Aluminum Conditioner DX 501.
The DAU 75 Clearcoat is used for aluminum applications according to PPG.
Has anyone used these PPG products on an Airstream?
I would appreciate any suggestions.
