Do you polish your awning????

I have a 64 that has an awning added in the 70s. The awning is in great shape. I pulled it out, cleaned it, put a fabric protector on, and rolled it back up. My quest is about the annodized aluminum. How many people polish their awning aluminum. Is that a normal thing? Should I even bother? Is it overkill? Once I shine up the rest, is it going to look silly without it being polished? I don't have the exact name of the awning company with me. so provided that it's annodized, I know what to do, just didn't know what the popular opinion was.

Thanks!

Robwok- I think "polishing the awning" IS a perfectly normal thing to do, and shouldn't be a bother once you get the hang of it. It will end up very, very shiney, but you won't go blind from it.

I say if you are going for perfect cute unit then yes

Heck i just polished lower portion of fridge which is pure alum and it does look a lot better in fact new. Fridge had original plastic still on stainless once pulled looked new. Meguires hot rims in cinnamon cream will polish alum perfect. i think if I owned air stream without clear coat this is stuff i would use.

Thanks for the input. Any thoughts on the water based Jestco remover for annodization?

Ok, no joking around this time- I tried "Metall" aluminum polish on the various hardware parts of my Zip-Dee awning, and it helped shine it up a little but not a lot. I just applied and buffed it by hand, as the directions indicate. I got the stuff from Out-of-doors-mart.

I use "Mother's" metal cleaner whenever I can borrow a ladder.
