DA for sanding scratches

Good evening everyone.

Stripping and polishing an Argosy. Finding relatively deep scratches and one area that is a very deep gray. I have been using 1200 to 2500 grit wet sandpaper with some success. However hand sanding isn't the most fun way to spend a few hour daily so I'm looking for a less strenuous and faster method. Has anyone used and orbital or DA sander with 1200 to 2500 grit sanding disc? Thanks
