Clear Coat(?) on Rear Bumper Peeling/flaking

Hi All,
I have a 2004, 28' Classic and for the life of me I don't understand what's going on with the right rear top section of the bumper. Just visited the trailer today (It's in storage.) after a three week seperation. Looked it over, as I always do, and noticed that the clear coat (?) was peeling/flaking off of the top section of the bumper . I couldn't find the problem any place else.

Anyone out there ever experienced this? Suggestion as to what to do now to protect the exposed area?

Plan to wax the entire trailer within the next week, any suggestions, as to a new wonder wax I should use? Approx. one year ago I waxed the entire thing w/Meguires Gold Coat (Supposed to gentle on Clear coats). I did this just after buying the trailer and before I discovered the Airstream Forum. I promise I'll do it with an approved product this time around.

Noticed a cracked rear bumper cover when doing our delivery inspection

on the 03. The dealer replaced the cover with one that is two different

shades of grey, looks like the top coat is pealing.

BETTER THAN A CRACK??

I just been keep'n it waxed, hasn't got much worse the last couple seasons.

If worse comes to worse will have a BS coat it with the same flexable paint

used on auto bumpers.

hi rover

the aluminum bumber or the plastic section next to the body?

for the alum bumper any non abrasive metal polish will protect it, but nothing is gonna stop the peeling...

CarGo Blue Magic

i use this stuff on many bare aluminum bits...

take a photo or 2 when you visit her again and post them into this thread...

cheers

I just noticed our 2006 has major flaking of the clearcoat on both external fridge panel/doors. This side of the trailer has faced south for most of the entire life of this trailer and the clearcoat has almost completely flaked off.
