Just cleaned my rock guards using Mineral Oil (as recommended by AS). Real nice job. Doesn't harm clear coat.

Wondering why a magnet won't stick to my stainless steel rock guards...

I used WD-40 on the rock guards and stainless steel battery box and they look much better. A few ounces versus the gallon can I purchased would have been enough.

I used the soft blue shop towels from CostCo and wore the same disposable rubber gloves I use at the dump station.

Good test though with a magnet. Some grades of stainless steel have more iron in them. If you have ever seen stainless that had rust that is also a good indication.

When I went shopping for a patio grill years ago I took a magnet and ran it over the grills that I was looking at. Most had iron and only a few were the non iron stainless.

We just washed our Airstream with Glaze wash. Very nice!!! Trailer shines better than with all the other car washes we had tried. Didn't do as well on the rockguards, but I am going out to test WD40, mineral oil , barkeepers. Doesn't the oil attract dust?

WD40 worked miracles. With a small amount of elbow grease almost all the tar and flyspecks are gone.

I tried to do a google search on "Glaze Wash" but could not find anything. Can you give me a bit more info on this stuff?

I've used all sorts of stuff in the past, but just tried WD-40. It's the winner.

My rock guards look like they have drops sprayed on them. I scrubbed them when I washed the whole AS, and then tried buffing with WD-40. They are clean and shiny, but the pattern of droplets is still there.

Any advice?
