Cleaning the aluminum shell on my 290

I was at a boat show a few years ago and noticed one of the boats on display (an unpainted aluminum boat) looked awesome, better than any other boat around. I asked the builder how he made the aluminum look so good and he told me WD-40. I started wiping my aluminum boat down with WD-40 every month or so and it really works wonders. My 290 shell is in great shape, just gets a few water spots here and there. I wonder if the WD-40 would work just to keep it looking good?? Have any of you tried it??
