check the thread on " yellow wall experiment" I used a ton of different stuff to clean my older trailer inside. You also want to scuff it up some with sand paper so it will adhere better.

Thanks for your response for the interior i used dawn dish soap I heard alot of critisizm on here about dawn and aluminum so I called them directly they stated that Dawn dish soap "Will not harm aluminum" I wish I would of called them before i did exterior so i would not of spent 20 bucks on car wash soap but oh well dawn cleaned interior excellent plus they support wildlife something i like and from now on will clean my whole trailer with it

I have heard that Dawn will strip off any wax you may have on the trailer. That may be a good thing. For those that just want to wash the trailer and leave a coat of wax on then use something like GelGloss RV Wash and Wax. It has worked for me.

I use Mothers car wash and it really cleans the trailer up. Bugs are gone, guts and all, and the trailer shows nicely. Based on my experience with washing my cars I never use dish soap unless I'm intending to immediately re-wax the car afterward. It does take the bugs and road grunge off but it also takes the was with it.

I finally had an opportunity to use the Ice wash from Turtle Wax. I was very disappointed as no matter whta type of towel I used it streaked. Finally I rinsed it off severl times and let it air dry. I may have used to much of the product but I have used several less expensive washes with great success. There was a wash from K Mart that was great but I can not remember the name. The Ice wash may be great on painted surfaces but I will not use it on aluminum.

If the unit looks like the one in the pic oxidized?

Just get some red compound hand rub it to get the loose stuff off then start buffing.

To clean the sticky stuff off the interior use "Crud Buster" from lowes, works like a charm.

The differing results are probably due to the fact that a 1963 is most likely bare aluminum and a 2007 is plasticoated aluminum - so you aren't actually waxing the aluminum, just the coating.

On the newer trailers I would only use what Airstream recommends - Walbernize products or clean water.

I was just introduced to California Custom deoxidizer and purple polish I will be trying these products and will give update. I was told to use nuvite for buff and that it was the best to use but after reading this website California Custom Products Inc. - Waxes & Polishes for Automotive Finishes because a good friend who polishes aluminum alot referred me there. I am going to test this stuff out it sounds like the best, wish me luck
