Carefree awning arm polishing?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to clean up the 3 inch wide support rails that have 34 years of aging on them. Wet they look pretty good, dry they look hazy (coating on them?).

Try "Mother's" cleaner. available at most parts stores.

The arms on mine are anodized light silver. My guess is that yours maybe also. If they are, the hazy coating you refer to may be years of grime or thermal stress cracking of the coating.

You can use products such as Zud, or Copper-Glo to clean anodized surfaces, but if it is a thermal issue you may not achieve your desired results. Anodizing can be physically or chemically removed, or if you're willing you could have the arms and such re-anodized.
