Airstream Solvent

I recently purchase a 1976 Tradewind. The owners gave me 2 cans of Airstream Solvent 360290-100. There are no directions or indications of what this is to be used for. Does anyone have any information on the purpose of this solvent and how it is to be used. Thank you!

I can look it up for you, but not until Monday.

It was made by Winnebago to dissolve Airstreams and reduce competition. Back in the days of dog eat dog competition, Winnebagos used to circle the Airstream factory spraying Airstream Solvent on newly produced trailers as they came out the door until Airstream got a court order to stop the RV Wars.

More recently Airstream found a use for it to get rid of all those unsold Base Camps.

Andy may have a different answer on Monday.

Airstream solvent? Of course they're solvent. They use it to momp up the competition.

The second last clearcoat that Airstream had for in field use was part # 360290. The solvent for it was part # 360291-100. The mix was 2 parts paint to one part solvent. Both those numbers are now obsolete.

That paint has now been replaced with a better product, along with a different solvent.

I would suggest that you dispose of your solvent # 360290-100, at some "HAZMET" location, as it cannot be used with the newest clearcoat.
