The wheel mounts at the top corner of the door opposite the hinges. Screws or rivets does not matter. The issue with the wheel is that it stretches and wears the fabric even with a wheel holding it off the door.
Its better to put the awning arm near the door up to the 4th click, and lower the opposite end to let water run off better. I had though Airstream was just being lazy not installing the wheel, but it turns out it's better off without it--the awning fabric lasts a lot longer without being rubbed on every time you open the door...
