I'm doing a complete demo/resto on a 1968 Sovereign and have a couple of questions: First off, anyone out there have a complete trailer wireing diagram that they can fax or e-mail to me?? For that matter is there a service manual available for this trailer? Also does anyone still manufacture, supply, stock etc the crank opperated window clasping mechanisims that pull the lower edge of the windows tight? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
There are owner's manuals available for that coach, although I am not sure about service manuals.
The crank mechanisms should be available, after a fashion, you can check out www.vintagervsupply.com for new windows. Hang onto your hat about the price, though. And this is about 1 third of what they cost a couple of years ago for used windows. They are special Corning curved glass on the sides. The missing front window may be able to be obtained at your hardware store or glass shop, as long as the window frame (if it has one) is intact.
Also, do you need a complete wiring diagram for the 110v systems, the 12v systems, the 12v running lights, or all 3?
Good luck on the resto, looks like you've got your work cut out for you!
Primarily the 12 volt system. I've figured out the road lights and connectors. And the 120V is pretty cut and dried. The glass I've already figured out is expensive but worth it. I just need to be able to close the windows and secure them the right way as the duct tape used in such quanity will soon out price the windows and closing mechs!!!!!
Yep i've been to his site and downloaded a copy of his 1966 manual which has gotten me to this point. My 'sad sov' has the 12V control panel forward at the kitchen fed from the batt/uni-volt in the back. I've isolated the uni-volt and cables so i guess i really need from the battery to the foward control center then out throughout the frame/body.
So what I'm looking for is an owners manual for a 1968 Sovereign, which should have the wiring diagrams that I need, correct? Are they reproduced anywhere? I think I remember an address you can send away to or a phone number or something.
Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Airstream ownership!

There are two possible sources for the owners' manual for your coaches. The long-time referral source has been Secretarial Services as described in this quote from the Vintage Airstream website:

Prior to that, the owner received a brown envelope containing parts lists and other helpful information on the accessories in his trailer. The VAC has started making these available in the Members Archive section. A service manual with instructions for performing service operations did not exist until 1972.
You can get photocopies of owners manual (1964+) and service manuals (1972-1986) from:
Helen Davis Secretarial Services
PO Box 484 Sidney, OH 45365
(937)492-8885
Prices are about $33 and $70 respectively. After 1986 the Owners Manuals included available service information.
The more recent addition to the possibilities is Airstream through its Company Store on the web at the address below:
Since 1964 was the first year for the published owners' manual, they were still somewhat in their infancy in 1968. I wouldn't count on finding comprehensive wiring diagrams if the 1964 owners' manual is any indicator.
Good luck with your Sovereign!
