Windows in a 1979 Sovereign

I am new to the camper buying and want an Airstream. I am looking at one near my home(well within two hours) and its seems to be in decent shape and everything is there and working, but the window film inside the panes of glass is all peeling off.Is this a common problem? The guy wants 8 grand for it and I dont even know what they are worth. I have looked at lots on here and craigslist and I am thinking more like 6500. Any help would be great for a really new Airstream family. I am very handy and also a sheet metal worker so I am not afraid to tackle any project, But the window thing looks tricky, and expensive. Thanks again for any help!! Peace, Kenny

Airstream quit making double pane windows, for the very reason you witnessed.

The outside glass has a film on the inside, that in time, peeled as well as faded.

To fix it, you must take the windows apart, clean them up, and then reassemble them.

Which windows? All windows?
Vista windows are the small windows above the large windows and seem to be the worst in regards peeling film. Have to remove inside plastic pane and clean. Or leave closed (they have pull down shutters) and forget them!
