dznf0g - I wonder if the variability in how well the 303 works depends on how it is applied?

Silicone will not attract dust n’ dirt, that’s important for a good seal.

We've been doing this a long time. The only real fix is to drill a 1/4 inch hole in the bottom of the screen surround. Then use a 1/4 inch wooden dowel to push the window open at the bottom. This is the only thing that we have found that works in the long run.

Silicone grease (aka silicone paste) is great stuff. You can buy a couple of different brands of it on Amazon. Go for price. It is not inexpensive stuff.

Be a little careful. Silicone can cause some types of rubber to swell. Not a lot, but enough to make it somewhat different. (Old British sports cars -- my main connection to silicone -- often use silicone brake/clutch fluid, but if used on newer or some replacement rubber, it causes the rubber inside the cylinders to swell up and leak.)

Tried the aero 303 for years and they still stuck. Got the window poppers a year ago. Never looked back - huge improvement

I’ve had mixed results with 303 protectant. The best thing that I’ve found for keeping the window seals from sticking for extended periods is Gummi Pflege, a German product used for rubber automotive seals. It’s a water based non-solvent formula that protects and conditions the rubber and doesn’t leave a residue that attracts dirt like silicone can. I still have a tube that I purchased direct from BMW years ago but it’s now available from several sources and manufactured under the name Nextzett Gummi Pflege. It comes with a foam applicator attached and you simply run it over the seals. Easy to use and no mess.

I’m sure the window poppers work great too but the thing is that the seals really should be treated routinely to protect them anyway so having something that serves both purposes is a plus.

What I have found after three Airstreams is that any lubricant is either messy or doesn’t work very long. I use a small dent puller, about 3 inches in diameter. Place it on glass , lock the handle and pull the window open.

Hi

I've tried various cleaners as well as a couple versions of the 303 "stuff". I'm still not real convinced any of it is any better than the others. Windows stick after a week or so, no matter what I use.

Window seal lubricant idea—has anyone tried this?

Weird recent experience. Airstream has been baking in the full Southern California sun for the past 6 years. Went to install my window popper thingies just before the last trip, expecting the windows to be stuck. Wonder of wonders, they opened just fine anyway.

Didn’t need to pry them open or anything. Maybe the seals settle down after a few years? Maybe a good coating of fine dust.

I’ll still install the window poppers to make it easier to bounce the windows open after I unlatch them, but I’m not having real sticking issues...

I did have one Fantastic Fan lid get stuck shut, but removing the screen and a gentle push with a long screwdriver got it opening normally again. It’s usually shut, but this issue showed up after a couple days on the road in high humidity. Not making a lot of sense.

Triple dittos for Window poppers. Single one for most windows and two for the front/rear windows and problem solved.

I think the reason they didn’t stick anymore is your window seals are dried out.

The wipes are also handy for things like the awning arms and their spring-loaded lock-in pins.

I’ve used 303 several times and it doesn’t help me much.

That checked all the boxes for me.
Visiting Lowe's today.
Thanks.

BTW, Last week, I tried opening several windows. One was easy, needs adjustment in, the rest were stuck. None seemed adjusted properly.
Bone tool on the way tomorrow!
I purchased six of the chrome window knobs, and when I went to install them (one setscrew). I hit the "You didn't expect it to be that easy, did you?" factor. The new setscrews are a different size than the old, you can't get to them without opening the windows, yada, yada!
