Why is my trailer so noisy

Im new to Airstreams and looking for your knowledge. We picked up our 2007 SS 25ft Safari a week or so ago. After taking it on a week trip to the FL Keys I noticed that it was quite noisy as we pulled out of the campsite. It seems like when i'm going slow or turning slightly. The noise seems like a long loud withdrawn creaky door sound somewhere as we start to move. I don't hear it when where up and running down the highway. Is this normal?

Sounds like the hitch. It is common and normal. There are some methods to reduce the noise, dependent upon brand. What hitch setup do you have?

First off, congrats on your new (to you) Airstream!
If you havent repacked you wheel bearings, that might be a good place to start. It is a general maintenance item that should be done on a regular basis anyway. If the noise is coming from the wheels I would certainly take some time to pull the wheels off and inspect everything.
I have noticed that at slow speeds my hitch will creak and groan sometimes. you can check there as well. adding some grease or lubricant to the ball/tongue can help with that.

It could very well be your sway control bar if so equipped. Depending on hitch type I would:
1) grease the ball
2) grease the trunion arms or bars

DO NOT APPLY ANY TYPE of lubricant to the friction sway control if so equiped. It will render your sway control USELESS!

Welcome to the forums!

Our hitch makes some interesting noises at slow speeds or when turning. It reminds me of the Titanic sinking.

E2 hitch by Fastway. Just read the trouble shoot in manual. It did say some noise is normal until hitch is broken in and general consequence of positive sway control and moving parts of hitch. Oh well, I guess i will just have to use my trailer lots more and see what happens
Thanks for your help.

I guess it is true-when all else fails....read the book
Glad you were able to find resolution . Some grease as mentioned before will help.

Yep it's your hitch. I have a Equal-i-zer brand it creaks, pops and groans at low speed. Very typical. According to the manufacturer I could use a small amount of lube but for all intents its job is to provide friction. The best advice is to keep it clean, and lube the ball on your hitch to prevent excessive wear.

Very ominous sounding!!!!
We switched to a ProPride from an Equalizer and have no longer got the "slow speed groan".

LOL Love the Titanic references in sound.
What I would have said has been previously mentioned on lubrication on the hitch ball etc.
