Nah, it doesn't have a torsion axle.
It has leaf springs (remember, it's a '56). Perhaps the older ones didn't have as smooth a ride as the newer ones (with torsion axles) but they also don't have the same wear issues.

Perfect, sound 13-panel trailer with brand new floor!

I'm going to try to get some photos tomorrow. But really, the exterior is unchanged from when I bought it, though the tongue is clean and nicely painted, as is the rear bumper (which, buy the way, had no rust)!

Nancy or Chuck - are either of you going to the Ocean State rally next month?

Come on, Chuck - I'll deliver the Safari to your house for free!
Tell your wife it just appeared!

Good question. I haven't heard anything either.

I know someone who might be interested, as well. Let me know the details and I'll get in touch with them.

56 Safari Lives on...

Hi all, I just recently purchased the 56 Safari from Chuck, and as a matter of fact will be driving her up I-87 today to drop her off in Plattsburgh NY at GSM Vehicles. Winters coming and hopefully Colin and his gang can get her ready for some summer 07 camping!
Always plenty to do on vintage aluminum.
I'll keep you posted.
Jaime
