Ignore the 250 volts part and go get the 32 volt (?) fuse from Advance Auto or wherever.

He's having a problem finding the slow blow 30 amp, the voltage isn't a problem. There are lots of 30 amp, but they all seem to be fast blow, for electronic applications. Slow blow is needed for motors. His current configuration is for a glass, in-line fuse.

I found some at Amazon for him but suggested he could also replace the glass holder with a newer blade fuse holder. The slow blow problem returned, since even with blade fuses most applications are for electronics. I found slow blow 30A blade fuses but also found a site that has an application where you can put in your requirements and find the fuse, then order it from them. The problem there is that there is a 9 week delay. I advised him to call the company and see if that could be shortened.

My personal experience in trying to find blade fuses usually results in having to buy a bag of fuses, which is sometimes cheaper than buying a single fuse. I needed some 3 amp blade fuses for my boat, went to 3 auto stores and 2 Kmart style stores, none of them had what I needed. I went on Amazon and found a bag of 25 3A fuses for about $7. I added them to my bag of 35A fuses for my inverter. I'm really stocked on blade fuses now and I have an extra in-line to blade adapter, just in case.

30A slow blow is standard NAPA item, just not always in stock. Link posted yesterday in Post #14.

Slow Blow 30A Fuse Availability

Friends: May I suggest and recommend patronizing my authorized Airstream dealer and Air Forums advertiser Colonial Airstream in Lakewood New Jersey. Parts Manager Brian Hawtin has a box full of the items and understands the difficulty in finding the proper fuse. Call him at 800.265.9019 and tell him I passed you along to him. Great service department also....

Cool

I looked on their website and couldn't find them. Advance is my goto store, always friendly. I don't know why I'm having a hard time locally. If you can find them on the Advance site maybe you can post the link so the OP can order them.

Thanks

Several years ago I purchased the remaining stock of a local electronic suppliers discontinued 30A 32V slow blow glass fuses. The fuses are labeled 32V 313 30A. I would be glad to sell them for $2 per pack of 5 plus shipping. PM me if interested. I will be bringing any remaining stock to International to sell in the flea market.

At Advance Auto I see part number is BP/SFE-30-RP. It doesn't say slow blow and at another site it says "no time delay". I don't think it's for motors, just for lighting. I found part number BP/AGC-30-RP, also doesn't say time delay or slow blow and at Amazon they say 'fast acting'.

M. Hony, if you got a pack and it says slow blow on them, what is the part number on the front, that will help to locate them.

If it were me, for the low cost, I'd go to Advance Auto and get a 5 pack to see if they hold up for the tongue jack. You've got 5 chances

If that doesn't work then contact Colonial or other AS dealership. I think I'll look at mine next time I'm over at the storage lot. If this is what mine needs I think I'll convert to the ATC blade fuse. These glass tubes are getting really hard to find.

That's the Littlefuse brand. You have a good price at $2 for a 5 pack.

I found them at Sears for $2.83, no mention of how many. They show only 1.

Platt has them too, price is $2.29 for a pack of 5

Amazon has the listing but they are sold out.

I went into the store and bought it in person.
If I can reman we where I put the box I will get the part number from it.
It looked identical to the original except the 250 volts/32 volts part.

I had trouble finding slo-blow fuses locally, so I got a spare regular one just in case.

The original blew during my second year with the trailer. I also blew my spare the same day. I got another set of five regular ones. I have blown one more since.

I consider the regular ones good enough to keep using, though I would buy slow-blow if I could find some at a good price.

Note: I was in a NAPA store a couple months ago, and found some slow-blow 30A glass fuses. But they were shorter than the original in my Barker jack. So check carefully if you are buying the NAPA fuses.

The fuses I am using now are Bussmann BP/AGC-30.

Gee whiz. Thanks again rich. I've got to start thinking outside the box. I use Platt for residential ele supplies and think of them as res/commercial. I'll walk the 9 blocks tomorrow. My Napa order arrived today so I'll pick that up, but discuss the SB availability and also the new bade type and wiring jig with Platt.

You can change to a circuit breaker. NAPA should be able to get one of these.

Thanks to all for your input. I found the 30 amp 32 v slow blows at Napa. It worked. I also called my power jack manufacturer Barker and they are sending me some of the correct fuses. They don't think the Napa fuses will last long before blowing. They actually recommended I use 40 amp fuses until I receive the correct ones from them.

My 12 volt 32 amp fuse has been working for a month or 2.
How long till the jack manufacturer thinks it will fail?

Any chance that swapping out the glass fuse-holder will void the warranty for the tongue jack motor in a newer trailer?

Hmmmm . . .

PS -- If it ain't broke don't fix it? The 30A 250v glass fuses may take a day or two to locate, but this technology is not going away in our lifetimes IMO.

Are you asking if swapping a 30amp glass fuse to a 30amp circuit breaker will void warranty? I wouldn't think so.

If you're looking for OEM fuses, just call Barker.

They sent me a three pack for nothing.

BTW, you're probably blowing the fuse with a bad switch in the head. I know.

They will sell you a head cover, and that will take care of the switch problem. I know about that too. ;-)

They didn't say how long. Just said to try it until I received the ones from them.
