When did AS use OSB flooring (Oriented strand board)?

I seem to remember that it was used in the 1992 models, but can you help me to isolate exactly what years we know that OSB was used?

Thanks!

1985

osb was in my 1985; full 3/4 inch hard to match with today's stuff; c channel still wanted 5/8; acquaintances have indicated no osb in their 93.

Doug, that picture makes me feel queasy. Makes me want to pay to restore vintage with Nyloboard - or just keep my aluminium-floored Minuet.

16' Bambis also had OSB up until around 2009. My understanding is that it's rather prevalent from the early 80s up until the mid-2000s.

Angry floor replacement material choices

Why can't pressure treated or marine plywood be used, especially around the perimeter..?. OR use pressure treated 1 x 6 or 8 and plane the boards to the desired thickness or route the edges only that go under the side wall. The later method will give you a 3/4" floor. Should last a long time and individual boards should be easier to install. Plus, I have experimented with insulating the boards bottom, as installing with styrofoam or spray foam to eliminate the fiberglass from becoming a sponge and holding water once wet. AND drain holes in the low spots of the belly pan let any water that intrudes find its own way out.

Doesn't OSB stand for old soggy barf?

OK, so far I note that we have confirmed:

1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, (1993 not), and yet 2002 yes

mutcth has a couple of non-confirmed thoughts, a joke from Chris, and some wishes from Jim & Mitzi.

If you know what your trailer has, and if it is OSB, let us know?

That is what it looks like when you find it rotted and falling through. My 2001 16' Bambi had it but it now has a 3/4" marine grade floor with 2 coats of gray epoxy top and bottom. Edges were routed to fit the channel, like mentioned above. Works good lasts long time......

C'mon - thoughts are good! Here's more confirmation that the 22' models had OSB up to at least 2005. I do know of a 1992 Excella with OSB floors - discussed it with their owner. Also I looked at a 2001 Bambi 16' (as mentioned above) that had it - the floor was sagging away, dipped in front of the entry door...

Not to add more confusion, but I think maybe it is not only a function of the year, but also the model.

Our 2005 Classic 30 definitely has plywood, but I'm not sure that all the different 2005 models did have.

This wooden floor issue - be it plywood or OSB is the thing I least like about our AS, I am really surprised that cannot - or choose not to - use something better.

Brian.

hmmm, on 93

pretty strong on 93 29 classic did not have it-they replaced flooring with standard hardwood flooring and that was 1st ques I asked, as most nailing methods are useless with osb. was the 93 34 footer built in 92? the late model ones, flabbergast me. I thought the osb was abandoned long age. aage, what is your plan? just puttin' together data?

If one goes to the Airstream home page, click on the "company tab, and the click on the factory tab on the left side, then tab on "factory part 2", they say right there that the flooring 5/8" T&G or OSB flooring. That's for 2011 I believe. So it seems they are still using OSB!
