What's this on my 1961 Tradewind

There's a home made blanking plate covering a hole near the door, my question is: what was this hole originally used for?

Tucked away inside is what looks like some factory 12v wiring. Behind the hole, between the outer and inner body skins is a round backing piece which can only have been put there before the inner skin was installed.

That appears to be the size for the whip antenna.

My 66 Trade Wind has a radio antenna mounting hole that looks like your photograph. Zoom in on my front view curb side and you can see the antenna base. It's round with three fasteners.

Thanks for the replies. My initial thoughts were that it was for an antenna but I think I've ruled that out because: a) there's an old antenna mount already fitted (obscured by the door in the photo) and b) there's a 12v power cable present.

Send a message via Skype™ to Melody Ranch
It is for a removable porch light. You see em for sale on Ebay sometimes.
