What is this thing???
After we found a leak and removed some of the rotten wood sub floor from our '77 Overlander this canister appeared. We can't see how it is connected or if there are any lines attached to it. We can't see it from underneath without removing aluminum sheeting. We are trying to avoid removing and replacing any additional flooring which would give us a better look at it so I wonder if anyone can tell me what they think it is. It is metal and appears to a tank of some sort was added with straps holding it on. It is about 3 feet in front of where you walk in the door, near the front. Any one have any idea?

Water system accumulator? Get a mechanics inspection mirror and see if there are water lines back in there.

Did your trailer have disc brakes? It could be a vacuum reservoir for the booster.

Definitely not original equipment. If you have one of those articulated inspection cameras, poke it in around it and see what is plumbed into it. I just saw your "floor rot" post, maybe the trailer itself is not the "time capsule", but that thing is!
That hole you have cut in your floor is really big! Note that there are bolts that connect your shell to your frame that pass through your subfloor under the walls. Even if all you want to do is patch that section, you will need to open up the wall in that area to get at those bolts, and you will have to dig into the bellypan as well, to get to the other side of the bolts.

Alien safe house (airstream) the canister is the self destruct device used to prevent the discovery of aliens (I watch H2). Don't push any buttons please we could have a major issue! My bet is a filter.

Po was a cartel member and the white powder you find is not talc! Or maybe a back up food supply for the preppers cat!
Cliff

Put your camera in the space between the floor and the belly pan and snap a few photos using the flash. You might get lucky and see what's connected.
Looking at the second photo, it looks like there is an access door through the belly pan that is held in place with screws.

It is the flux capacitor silly. It is probably an accumulator to reduce pulses from the demand pump.
