Question What are these things for?

Does anyone know what is the device from the first picture an the box from the second picture?
The device from the first is located in the front of the trailer under the gaucho and the box form the second picture is located jus above the light switch for the exterior light. Both things are placed on my 1970 Safari.

Neither one looks like original Airstream equipment. Could it be a security alarm of some type?

thank you Ed, the water pump is right beside the furnace under the sink, I think it must be something else. The doorbell has an outside button or how does it works?

Thats an old mechanical siren in the first picture. Open the cover on the second one and someone will probably know what it is.

I would guess that both are part of some alarm system a PO installed. They are not original equipment I am virtually positive.

The gray box logo looks like the H that Honeywell used, but it may just be a box someone recycled to a new function.

I doubt that either of these are part of the doorbell system, which may have been an option in those years. If there is a doorbell button, outside, you may find the factory "chime" inside behind a bed. It looks like a home unit, with no cover... two "gong" bars, one for the ding, and dong.

Agree that the logo on the second device is 50's to 70's Honeywell. It sure looks like a 1964 GPS receiver, but I think the paper tape printer is missing.

The second pic is (as guessed by those before me) is an old Honeywell box. It is in-fact a control box from an oil burning furnace. The red slide type button in the lower left corner was the clue. I also agree the the original contents were taken out and the box used something else. If it is part of the siren alarm system the 2 should have wires connected between them.

The second one looks like an old Honeywell flame detector. Some were connected to a thermocouple others were connected to a device called a "looker" and or a "peeper. They were use on industrial equipment like ovens and boilers. They controlled the gas valve for these industrial devices. A PO may have had experience with these units and wired it up for the burner control in the furnace or water heater.
I have worked with many of them in my career. Looks like it is a version popular in the 70's and early 80's.
Maybe the device in the first pic is an alarm horn to wake someone if there was a problem.

Wake up!

I have seen one of the sirens running. They put out like 150 db.. Not only scare the pouuu out of the person outside,, but the folks inside would also have to restart there hearts..

Hi, the first picture is definately an electric motor driven siren and I wouldn't want it mounted there.

Oops!

My original post was supposed to be a question not a statement of fact. I made a puctuation error! I hate it when that happens. Anyway, I agree I would move that siren in the first picture to.... Under the floor and put inside the belly pan as to protect the ears and hearts of the persons that might be inside when it went off. Perhaps the PO that had it installed only activated it when away from the trailer. Sure to get attention if activated. Now if it is a security system one would think some type of sensors would be mounted at door and window locations. Ed

Can you determine where the wires go from the Honeywell box? Can you remove the cover of the Honeywell box and post some pics?
