Weak or no signal
We have a batwing antenna new on the 2008 27 FB Safari. For little or no reason we can think of the Samsung digital tv will no longer receive a good signal... Even in the city. We checked up top and all cables seem to be connected fine. The tv works fine on AV as source for movies. Any suggestions? Also, using a digital converter box on our standard Sony in the back...still getting no signal.

I am assuming that the little green light is coming on when you switch from cable input to the external antenna. The problem may be in the switcher box. Are you getting cable input when the green light is on?

We don't have cable...just local hd channels through antenna. Am I understanding your question?

We had a signal problem on our Excella. The little green light was on, but our booster was not working. I replaced the booster, and the signal is great. I think the green light only tells that the booster is on, not that the booster is actually working.

Coax is not robust stuff. Broken connectors (solder) can account for poor/no signal.

Check and make sure the television is in the "Air" mode. Some of the actual frequencies are different for off air tv and cable. In my '09 the Samsung tv also has separate inputs for cable tv or off air antenna. Make sure you are connected to the correct input.
And, the wall plate with the green light is not actually the "booster". It is simply the power supply for the amplifier that is in the batwing itself. The wall plates can fail, but I have had a relatively new batwing start leaking water and ruin the circuit board up there.
Most tv coax connections are solder free. The "F" styled connector used with RG-6 and RG-59 coaxes employed in tv distribution systems was developed to provide for simpler installation techniques. The solid center conductor of the coax mates directly with brushes inside the female "F" connector, unlike other types of coaxial cable.
Always something to fix. Good luck.
