Water Heater repair

I looked and could not find a piece of information I received from Atwood re my electric ignition water heater (6gal) in my 2006 Bambi. Unit was having problem lighting. I could hear the igniter, there was a spark, and sometimes a flash of fire, then nothing. Also, the inside red light would not go out if ignition did happen. I replaced all I could from the front of unit and cleaned unit and all plug contacts to no avail. Called Atwood tech and he said he thought my igniter was out of alignment and to readjust. Here is the part I did not know. By unplugging the multi-wire plug from the upper right front of the water heater, and plug back in, would reset the heater the same as running back in the trailer and turning on and of the switch. It sure works and I had unit firing like new in no time.

I hope this information helps us new guys on the block when trying to fix the water heater. (sorry, what the plug is called I don't know).

That is good to know, thanks. I hate running back and forth multiple times to try something out.

I found our 'probe' was highly oxidized so could not detect the 'plasma' in the fire stream.. A removal, cleaning, reinstall and alignment got things popping nicely..

Nice tip about removing and reconnecting the connector...Thanks!!
