Get one of these Flush King - Valterra FK-01 - Sewer Flushing - Camping World. It lets you back flush the black tank with gray water and/or hose connection. Plus lets you add more water to the black tank for your next stop. More efficient than the AS flush connection.

I was already planning on removing that vacuum breaker on our AS. I'm just waiting until I winterize in a few weeks since I have to open things up anyway to install the winterizing kit on the pump.

I don't believe the sheet mtl cover on my tanks has any drain holes in the bottom. I wondered what would happen if water got in there?? I even thought of putting tape over the openings for the valve handles so road spray wouldn't enter the box. Water could drain out the openings to the valve handles, but those are a couple of inches up from the bottom. Unless there are seams on the corners that could weep/leak the sheet metal box could hold several gallons of water.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a metal (brass) replacement for the vacuum break valve for the black tank flush that can be used to replace the POS plastic one from Airstream?

It is, not connected at all. Why do you ask?

It is not connected to the trailers potable water system but it is connected the the source water system when used, thus the need for a vacuum break.

While it is almost impossible to have a condition where the source system would pull a vacuum on the black tank while the nozzle was under water that is what the protection is addressing.

Do the world a favor. Don't ever use the thing.

I use everything in my AS, even the dump valve light .....well not everything, I don't use the phone jack

I recently found out by accident that there was a dump valve light. I had been messing around my dump valve area few days ago. Came back out after dark and notice a faint glow by the valves. I guess I turned it on without realizing it.

Got the new "valve" installed. Understandable why they crack. There is quite a bit of torque necessary to tighten the hoses enough to prevent leaks. That in turn puts the plastic bits in a bind. I'm thinking that if the hose from the hose connection to the bottom of the vacuum break were more flexible, less stress would be put on the plastic valve. Be easier to install also. In my humble opinion at least. Off to home depot. Thanks again, Mike
