Was this common way back when?

Take a look at these two pictures...one side is done with bucking in rivets and the other side is done with ?? a different type of rivet ...as I look around it is done in 3 or 4 different places... not that its important just curious if anyone has a thought...

Those non-bucked rivets look an aweful like some form of a blind or "pop" rivet. Have a good hard look at the heads of those rivets and see if you can detect the presence of a mandrel that has been shaved to make it look like a bucked rivet. Anyway, if they are some form of blind rivet, it is probably evidence that your trailer has had sections of skin replaced over the years. Look closely at the sheets that have the pop looking rivets and see if they are sealed on the inside in the same way that the bucked sheets are.

Those odd looking rivets are 'exploding' rivets and commonly used back then for panel replacements. They tend to be weak and leak like crazy, we are dealing with them on a '63 Globetrotter right now.

Well that explains a lot of things...it appears then the whole curbside lower panel from the door all the way back to the rear including the curved panel has bee replaced...UGH! Now I know why my wheel well cut outs are so different on each side.
