Warranty service at Jackson Center

My new 2015 FC 28 has been delivered to my FL Dealer; picking up in a few weeks. Several on this site have mentioned terrible service from my particular Dealer. Jackson Center is about the same distance from my home as is my Dealer. I live north of Atlanta. Would be interested in hearing about any experiences with having Jackson Center do warranty work? Will Jackson Center service my AS that was bought in FL? If so, is it difficult to get appointments given how busy they apparently are?

I have had my trailer there several times and always a good experience. Book ahead, the appointments go fast.

We have been to the Factory Service Center four times over the years. They are the most competent and experienced Airstream technicians on the planet. I was told that an Aistream employee must have at least ten years on the assembly line before he can even apply to be in the Service Center.

These guys really know what they are doing and they have any part that they need readily available.

You can camp in the Terraport right on the Factory grounds. Be sure to take the Factory tour while you are there.

We have never had a problem getting an appointment, but we have always called well in advance.

Once you go there, all dealer service will pale by comparison.

Brian,

Thats why you've been to JC four times...they practice by building them.

They should apprentice with the folks who know what they are doing, then assemble then get promoted to the Service side.

BassAkwards..... IMHO

Everything that I have ever had fixed at JC was done correctly. I stand by what I said. They are the best.

....and if you want to stand and watch them you are more than welcome to do so. You do have the option of a closer dealership. Come up to Greensboro, NC and check with Out-of-Doors Mart, my local folks. They are one of the oldest A/S dealers in the US, have an incredible warehouse of parts (sometimes JC gets parts from them!). They do outstanding panel work as well as all the other usual systems. Shorter drive for you, but no factory tour!

DeltaRon - if they're as close as the dealer from whom you purchased - I would recommend going straight to the factory. I live in CT and went to the factory for our first warranty services and for some customization. They are absolutely outstanding and it's a real hoot to be there. Just check out the other threads about what to do while in the area because you REALLY have to travel around the are to see anything :-)

Great folks, fun to camp at the terraport and the service crew is really second to none.

Everything I have had repaired at JC was done correctly also, the Service side is first rate.....it should be the same at all the dealers and the build side.

I was delighted the first time I took the trailer to Jackson Center, not completely satisfied the second trip. Different tech working in the trailer, different experience.

I will go back again but I will do my research on techs before hand and let the service manager know which techs can work on my trailer and possibly one or two who can't.

Don't get me wrong, I've been to Jackson Center twice and the service and friendliness there have been great. And I think I'm a better Airstream owner having toured the factory twice because it gives me x-ray vision of what's going on behind the panels. But I strongly believe in building a relationship with an owner's dealership. Getting to know them and working with them makes for good repairs and confidence. I know the parts manager, service manager, technicians and sales people, even the owner, at my dealership and they form a team that's helped me a great deal over the years. So I've talked over repairs with the service manager and parts manager long before I show up for the service. When I haven't gotten good warranty and non-warranty service at Airstream dealerships around the country, its been because I just show up on their doorstep, unannounced, during their busiest times and I've needed help now. Sort of like a pesky in-law. I'd head back to my dealership in a minute to foster that good relationship. And warranty service and parts at dealers are guaranteed so I take advantage of that. Just do the coordination ahead of time so that you know the parts are there and that they have planned to put the best technician on that particular job. They each have their competencies and the service managers know not to send a boy to do a man's job.

The Airstream Service Center is absolutely the best. I won't take my trailer anywhere else. If the dealership is as far away as Jackson Center anyway, it's a no-brainer-
